EDUCATION

I graduated from the University of Denver in December, 2005 with a Masters in International Studies and a Juris Doctorate. While at the Sturm College of Law, I earned an academic scholarship for my interest in human rights. I received awards for the highest academic performance in my Conflict of Laws and International Conflict classes. I was on the award-winning Jessup International Moot Court Traveling Team in 2005 and 2006 under the leadership of Coach John Powell. At the Graduate School of International Studies, I received the Herzstein Academic Scholarship for Academic Excellence.

I graduated cum laude from Saint Olaf College in January, 2002, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and an International Relations Emphasis. I earned the Presidential and Conoco Academic Scholarships. At Saint Olaf, I studied cello and played in numerous professional and volunteer ensembles. I refined my French language skills. I also participated in Great Conversations - an intensive two-year review of Western history, philosophy, literature, art, and music.

EXPERIENCE

Hatchcos Holdings International, a multinational engineering, mining, and metallurgy company located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, selected me as intern in 2005 through the American Bar Association International Law Section's International Internship Program. While at Hatch, I drafted memoranda for corporate counsel, circulated to the board of directors, on topics including corporate social responsibility, US securities, and bankruptcy laws. I researched and wrote memoranda on international commercial topics comparing model joint venture agreements and summarizing engineering and construction agreements. I conducted an extensive comparison of major international arbitral institutions. I also authored and published "Payday: A Comparison of Pay-When-Paid and Pay-If-Paid Contract Clauses" in the company newsletter distributed to 6,000 employees globally.

I also interned in 2005 for The Honorable Martin Egelhoff in Denver District Court. I drafted proposed orders in various aspects of civil litigation such as motions for default judgment, and county court appeals. One of my largest projects involved researching and drafting a proposed summary judgment order allocating the obligation to defend between a self-insured auto rental agency and an insurance company. I also organized voluminous filings, acted as bailiff, and co-managed law clerk duties during un-staffed interim period of one month.

Throughout law school, I was research assistant to renowned international jurist Ved Nanda. Prior to graduate school my experience was mainly in publishing, as editorial intern with Minnesota Law & Politics magazine, and editor, researcher, and writer with Hills and Plains History magazine.
